Who we are
An Egyptian salt producer and exporter — not a trading intermediary
Solven operates solar evaporation fields on Egypt's northern coast, where a long summer and low humidity give one of the cleanest crystallisation seasons in the Mediterranean basin. We harvest, wash, dry and pack in facilities we own and operate, and we export directly to the end user.
That model means a buyer speaks to the same team that sets pond density, issues the certificate of analysis and books the berth. There is no commercial layer separating the commitment from the execution.
We serve chlor-alkali plants, water-treatment operators, food manufacturers, tanneries, winter-service municipalities and feed producers, adapting granulometry, packaging and documentation to each sector.

Five controlled steps

Seawater intake
Mediterranean water is drawn into concentrator ponds and walked through a controlled density cascade.

Crystallisation & harvest
Crystallisers are density-mapped daily; harvest is released only inside the clean NaCl window.

Washing & drying
Brine washing, centrifugation and fluid-bed drying remove clay fines, sulphate and residual mother liquor.

Screening & treatment
Graded to the customer's granulometry, optionally iodised, anti-caked or mineral-fortified.

Packing & loading
Bulk, jumbo bag, 25/50 kg or retail; stuffed or loaded from covered stockpiles at the berth.
Milestones
From local supplier to global exporter
2009
Founded in Damietta as a regional supplier of coarse solar salt to Egyptian tanneries and food processors.
2014
First washing and centrifugation line commissioned; first bulk export cargo loaded for a Mediterranean chemical buyer.
2018
Refined food-grade line and retail packing hall added under HACCP; ISO 9001 and ISO 22000 certification achieved.
2021
Compaction plant for water-softening tablets and de-icing programme launched for Northern European winter service.
2024
Capacity expanded to 1.2 million tonnes per year with berth-adjacent covered stockpiles at Damietta.
2026
Export footprint passes thirty markets across Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Asia and the Americas.
Sustainability
Saltworks operated as a productive wetland
Solar production burns no fuel to evaporate, and we build on that with zero-discharge water management and seasonal bird monitoring.
Zero-discharge bittern
Residual bittern is routed to a dedicated cell for magnesium recovery instead of open-sea release.
Solar-first energy
Evaporation uses no fuel; rooftop PV covers a growing share of plant and lighting load.
Habitat continuity
Pond levels are held through the nesting window on the Mediterranean migratory flyway.
